The Cosmic Perspective

The psyche is patterned. Its movements of personality, preference, and experience can be mapped. What is needed is an adept guide. One who can decipher the meaning of cosmic systems and symbols revered by the ancients—such as astrology and myth. One who honors the reality of the unconscious in the great tradition of depth psychology. As the Oracle of Delphi decreed: know thyself.

Along with curiosity and introspection, there are keys that can help unlock such a profound revelation. Stories rooted in the depths of collective human experience that provide an image for inner understanding. When the conscious ego meets the unconscious shadow, there is a (re)birth that orients the personality to a new center of Self. This is the psyche seeking wholeness, a process of transformation that Carl Jung called individuation. Sometimes it is chosen. More often it is foisted upon us unexpectedly. These are life’s upheavals. The destabilizing situations that build character, make meaning, and forge soul. The work can be vital when at a crossroads. Then, like Hermes psychopompos, who could travel and bring messages between the upper world of consciousness and the underworld of the unconscious, we will explore both terrains.

I am not a therapist. I am not a life coach. Think of me as a midwife to this process of transformation. A guide to self healing and knowledge, with a compass for the journey.

In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order, in all caprice a fixed law, for everything that works is grounded on its opposite.
